Families and folks of all ages are welcomed to join us for a community nature walk! Kids and teens can connect with peers in a multiage setting. Adults can connect and enjoy the same! Everyone can get outside for fresh air, exercise and community connection, and share their love of nature! We will start the day with a relaxed opening circle and icebreaker game, offer a kids scavenger hunt, and then go for a self paced walk. Groups may stop at times to let the kids play and explore freely in the woods surrounding the trail. Walks usually take about 2 hours total. Read below for details on this months walk!

Description

Sunday, February 22
1:OO to 3:OOpm
Amisk Trail, La Barriere, Manitoba

Lets meet in February at the Amisk Trail!
This is in La Barriere, not to be confused with the trail in the Whiteshell provincial park of the same name (which means beaver).

This is a lovely winding trail along the Seine River, through the woods. The ground is quite flat, and the trail is narrow and usually snow packed in winter. It is shared use, so we will need to watch out for bicycles!

We will meet at the trailhead near the parking lot beginning at 12:45 pm.
Kindly give yourself time to arrive, aim for 12:45 so we can all start together!
Circle will be at 1:OO, and we will set out on our walk no later than 1:15.
We will get moving sooner if it is cold outside!

If you need to get in touch for any reason, email info@gerhardcenter.org

The whole walk will take about 2 hours at a relaxed pace with some stops along the way for nature appreciation and play, of course!
  • Bring water and a snack!
  • Dress for the weather! Layers are highly recommended in winter, with a moisture wicking base layer such as wool, bamboo or synthetic, a midlayer sweater or sweatshirt, and an insulated, water proof shell.
  • Wear boots with good grip and thick socks!
  • Thick mittens, snow pants, balaclavas or scarves, etc.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Questions and feedback are always welcome via email to info@gerhardcenter.org
