Norm grew up on an organic vegetable farm in southeastern Manitoba. As a youngster, he fell in love with nature and spent his time hiking, identifying plants and birds, picking berries and mushrooms, and doing just about every other outdoor pursuit imaginable. He knew that he wanted to pass on his love for the outdoors and show others how great nature and the wildlife that call it home can be. Norm is accomplishing this goal by working through a few different avenues: adventure, education, and conservation.
Norm has a diploma in Outdoor Education, which he has used to gain experience in the guiding and naturalist industry for over 15 years. From leading snowshoe trips in the Rocky Mountains to being a naturalist in New Zealand to guiding the only on-the-ground polar bear viewing expeditions in the Arctic, Norm has always lived by the philosophy that work should be something you are passionate about.
Norm also wants to leave a positive impact on the natural world he loves so much. Norm works with endangered species in Manitoba’s tall-grass prairie, where he raises awareness for this incredibly biodiverse area and aids in numerous conservation efforts. Norm also works as a wildlife technician conducting bird nest monitoring and is looking forward to caribou calving grounds monitoring as well.
Nature Norm is always looking to inspire the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and enjoys the mutual learning opportunities that naturally occur while spending time with youth outdoors.
